Spray Disinfection Tunnels: Intelligent Guardians Building a Line of Security

2025-04-11

In fields such as public health, agriculture and livestock breeding, food processing and logistics, the risk of pathogen transmission is always a focus. To block the spread of viruses, bacteria and other harmful organisms efficiently, spray disinfection tunnels have been developed. Through automated spray systems they disinfect people, vehicles and equipment comprehensively.

Working principle. A spray disinfection tunnel is an integrated disinfection device whose core is a precisely controlled spray system that atomises disinfectant into micron-sized particles and covers the target surface evenly. The workflow usually includes: induction start-up, in which infrared sensors or ground induction loops detect an object entering the tunnel and trigger the spray system; atomised spraying, in which a high-pressure pump delivers disinfectant such as sodium hypochlorite, peracetic acid or a compound quaternary ammonium salt to the nozzles to form a fine mist curtain; full-coverage disinfection, in which droplets diffuse in the air and penetrate surface gaps to kill bacteria, viruses and fungi; and circulation and filtration, in which some systems are fitted with liquid recovery so that the disinfectant can be reused.

Categories. Vehicle disinfection tunnels are used in logistics parks, farm entrances and waste treatment stations, with a wide-body design that accommodates trucks and forklifts and spray pipes in the ground for tyres and chassis. Equipment disinfection tunnels are used in cold-chain warehouses and medical device workshops, often combined with conveyor systems for continuous treatment. Personnel disinfection tunnels are used on farms, in food factories, hospitals and laboratories, with a lightweight structure, foot disinfection pools, atomising nozzles and air shower devices to avoid cross-contamination.

Core advantages. Compared with manual spraying, automated spraying achieves 360-degree coverage within seconds with a sterilisation rate of up to 99.9%. Different disinfectants, including acidic, alkaline and neutral solutions, can be used, and the tunnel length and spray density can be customised. High-pressure atomisation reduces liquid consumption and labour input, and disinfectant can be recycled. A PLC control terminal monitors disinfectant level and equipment status in real time and generates a cloud-based disinfection log.
